Loading an arrow into an Excalibur crossbow can be difficult, especially when you’re just starting out. That’s why it’s important to learn how to execute every gesture correctly. Besides getting you used to having the right reflexes, it’s also very important to ensure your safety. But how do you perform this delicate maneuver correctly? In this article, we tell you all about it!
A few reminders before loading an arrow into an excalibur crossbow
Before loading an arrow into an Excalibur crossbow, make sure no one is standing in front of you, and point your crossbow at a safe place. Also check that the safety catch is in the SAFE position.
However, even if the crossbow safety is already engaged, you should always handle it with care. As with any mechanical device, it is quite possible for the crossbow safety to fail.
So, before loading an arrow into an Excalibur crossbow, make sure you have the right arrows. In general, the Excalibur crossbow is always delivered with original arrows. But if you want to fit other arrows, it’s best to choose arrows that have been specially developed for Excalibur crossbows, such as Proflight arrows. These versatile arrows come in three sizes: 16.5″, 18″ and 20″.
Steps for loading an arrow into an excalibur crossbow
Fitting an arrow into an Excalibur crossbow can be a real headache. But with know-how and practice, this maneuver becomes quick and easy. So, if you’re a beginner, here are the steps to follow.
Step 1: load lower boom first
To avoid injury, we recommend loading the bottom arrow first. To do this, simply align the tail and pass the arrow through the body of the bow.
As a reminder, Excalibur arrows have no cock feather. This means you can point any fin downwards.
Step 2: positioning the boom
When the first arrow has passed through the bow body, you will feel a slight pressure as its rear end engages the retaining spring. So keep pushing it back towards the trigger assembly.
Once you feel the arrow reach the trigger base, position it in the trigger assembly. To do this, simply press the arrow firmly backwards so that it engages.
Step 3: Move on to verification
Once the arrow is in place, make sure that the back of the end cap is tight against the string slice and not snagged on the notch of the trigger plunger. Remember, your Excalibur crossbow won’t fire if your arrow isn’t fully positioned. So make sure it’s securely in place.
Step 4: Load the top arrows
To load the upper arrows, simply repeat steps 1 to 3.
After following all these steps and consulting the user manual, including the section on safety rules, your crossbow is now loaded and ready to shoot. But before you start shooting, don’t forget to remove the safety from your crossbow.
How to unload an arrow without shooting?
You can now safely unload the arrow from your Excalibur crossbow without firing. To do so, simply use Excalibur’s new CHARGER EXT. It’s a crossbow crank system made of high-strength aluminum alloys that can reduce the draw weight of any Excalibur crossbow to just 12 lbs, while ensuring constant string alignment.
Unlike other noisy, cumbersome cranks that are permanently mounted, the CHARGER EXT is easy to handle. It can be detached in just a few seconds. What’s more, it features a removable ambidextrous handle and a spring-loaded retractable cable for quick and easy storage. So when you use it, you can disarm your Excalibur in complete peace and safety.
Good to know: When unloading your Excalibur crossbow, don’t forget to install the supplied safety strap. Failure to do so could result in serious injury or product damage. So take extra care!
